Course Overview-Maths
Good numeracy skills can make your personal and working life easier.
Maths functional skills is practical mathematics for learners which provide essential skills, knowledge and understanding to enable students to function confidently and effectively at work and in their everyday life. Born out of the demand from the CBI, Maths functional skills help learners to use what they have learnt in a practical way to be mathematically functional.
Maths functional Skills are about developing a skill base which is then transferable to other areas of learning, life and work. This would include things like problem solving, communication, team working and presentation.
We can offer you a nationally recognised certificate at a course level that is right for you, instilling the skills that will enable you to gain the confidence and ability to use maths both at work and at home.
Course Overview-Maths
Functional Skills are nationally recognised qualifications in English which will help you develop skills that you can use in your work and your home life. You will learn practical skills which you can actually apply in real life situations unlike some of the skills in GCSE which (let’s be honest) you would probably never use outside of the classroom.
Functional Skills are ideal for learners who do not have an up-to-date English qualification and would like to get on in work or access further education.. Functional Skills at Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE at Grade A-C and can often be used to enable learners to access higher education courses.
They will also enhance your CV, boost your confidence and give you those transferable skills which you will actually use in the work place to help you do your job better - and maybe even gain a promotion. They will help with your communication skills and personal budgets and may even help you get a better deal when you’re shopping!
Our courses are so flexible so you do not have to go to a college or learning centre everyday during the day or in the evening. You can do it from the comfort of your own home at a time and pace which suits you.
You will do work with your assessor covering English skills such as letter writing, emails, making information leaflets, and using different ways of writing information. This will then lead to a test which is completed through Aspire Training Team, and an oral which is done with your assessor
How does it work?
All our Functional Skills qualifications work in the same way.
We work through the following steps
An Initial Assessment:
This is to find the level at which you are working.
A Diagnostic Assessment:
This looks at different elements of the course and identifies which areas you are competent in and which areas require more work.
Create each learner an ISP
Your Individual Skills Plan gives you information, practice quizzes and assessments, video clips and other resources to help your learning.
Help you gain your chosen qualification
Each learner is assigned a tutor and provided with necessary learning materials.
After an initial assessment, you will work with your assessor covering different scenarios, using different maths problems and focusing on areas where you need extra support. This will lead to a test to complete the course
