CQC Regulation 18 states that providers must deploy sufficient numbers of suitably qualified, competent, skilled and experienced staff to make sure that they can meet people’s care and treatment needs and therefore meet the requirements of Section 2 of these regulations.
On the 1st January 2018, the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) was withdrawn to make way for the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). This qualification is designed to meet this regulation and is delivered in the workplace.

It is expected that learners will have qualifications and/or experience in management roles in the healthand social care sector in order to register for this qualification. If a learner is completing this qualification as part of the apprenticeship standard for Leader in
Adult Care, achievement of level 2 English and mathematics is required, as well as the Care Certificate.For those staff who completed the CIS prior to the launch of the Care Certificate, it is the employer’s responsibility to judge where the gaps are for staff to meet the additional standards in the Care Certificate.
